Anxiety 
Therapy

I am able to support you in teaching you skills and strategies to be rid of anxiety in your life. Some of the skills taught are mindfulness, CBT, breathwork, emotional balance and wellbeing.

Couples
Therapy

Some of the skills used to gain a connection again with your loved one are couple communication, individual self, needs, and wants, acceptance, love language, intimacy, and time in/out.

Positive Parenting
Therapy

Sometimes parenting can be hard, I can support the changes you are wanting by looking at past parenting, how you were parented and teach positive skills to become the parent you have always known you are.

Trauma
Therapy

Trauma is caused by an event or events from your past or present. The effect that trauma has on lives can be detrimental as it can cause emotional, physical, spiritual and/or psychological harm.  

My Approach

Having worked with different people from various backgrounds, I am able to work in an empathetic, non-judgmental, supportive, compassionate and confidential environment. My belief is that you are the expert of your life and I can support the positive changes that you are requiring to continue your journey. The approach I use is creative and tailored to your needs and wants.

About me

I am a trained Social Worker with 18 years experience, graduating from Massey University with Honors. My experience is working with couples, individuals, families and teens using many different therapies and tools. 

Getting Help

Due to my background in social work I use various therapies such as Narrative Therapy, Trauma Triggered Therapy, Couples Counseling, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Task Centered Practice, and Problem Solving Therapy, to support change for anxiety, depression, couples counseling, positive parenting, trauma, emotional regulation, antenatal anxiety, abuse and family violence. I also offer mediation for families as well as supervision for social workers.

I would highly recommend Maria as a counselor, she’s awesome! Maria is patient and compassionate while being proactive and constructively challenging when I needed it.
